Multifamily Residence Frauenfeld: A Case Study from Conception to Realization
During my time as an architecture student, I noticed a significant gap in the literature: there was no book that comprehensively covered the entire development process of a building project. Most architecture books primarily focused on the final structure, but I was interested in understanding how a project evolved from start to finish. I vividly recall my first semesters, during which we were confronted with complex buildings designed by award-winning architects. These impressive projects, however, left many questions unanswered. As a beginner, I wondered: How does such a project come to be? What role does the architect play? And what else does an aspiring architect need to know? Despite studying at prestigious universities and interning at renowned architecture firms, I still lacked a comprehensive overview of the entire project development process. The available literature mostly showcased the spectacular final results. Yet, architecture is more than just the completed building—it is a dynamic process. With this book, I aim to achieve an ambitious goal: not only to showcase the final product of a building project but to thoroughly and vividly describe each phase of its development. This book is not just a collection of planning and construction phases but the captivating story of a fascinating project.
